I love listening to your podcast!!!

I live in Australia, where I worked in Drilling for 4 years ( firstly minerals). I lastly worked as a Roughneck for Saxon before I quit my job.

I had a traineeship lined up with Schlumberger. Well,then the downturn started and the traineeship fell through, I worked, studied and traveled elsewhere and now started studying Petroleum Engineering & Geology in Adelaide, Australia.

I studied Arabic in a previous University Degree- and yes, you got it -would like to work in the Gulf after I finish my current degree (still a long way to go…)

I love listening to your show but I am devastated because in the last 2 weeks I couldn’t download your episodes from i Tunes.

They do show up in my list of subscribed podcasts but they don’t download automatically, neither when I try to download them individually.

I don’t know whether others have the same issue, as I cannot listen in on you and your reader’s comments.

Please help me!!!

Also: I can’t find the oil & gas this week group on linkedin….any hints???

And: I would like to subscribe to the Oil & Gas Young Professionals Group but find it very US market focused- makes sense of course-

I live in Australia and am interested in the Arab and Central Asian Market- do you know of other groups/ networks which focus more on those regions?

Where can I find some comprehensive maps covering pipelines across the country for refined products? I would even be willing to purchase physical paper maps if that is the answer.

I recently watched the movie Deep Horizon. I would like to know once the drilling is completed how does the oil get from the wellhead to a ship?

1. What’s your understanding of the state of EU and US sanctions on Russia? It appears that Trump wants to ease or lift sanctions eventually, but is proceeding very cautiously. Several EU countries seem to want to ease sanctions as well. The EU has another layer of issues with several interesting elections in its larger member states and its uncertain future generally. So, what do you think is likely to happen with these western sanctions in the near term?

2. Are there any countries in the world other than the U.S. where individual property owners actually own their mineral rights? Where?

3. Here’s an oil and gas 101 question. Can you talk a bit about how the process of acquiring licenses to look for and extract oil and gas internationally? Who are the people within a company who do the deal side of this work, i.e. bid, negotiate, interface with foreign governments, etc. (besides lawyers…)? Is it mostly the big companies that get involved in these deals?

4. What are your favorite sources of information for keeping up to speed on news and developments in the oil and gas industry? I mean those that are accessible to the public.

5. Are you aware of any companies making interesting advancements in extended reach drilling? Is it cost prohibitive these days to use extended reach drilling to access offshore resources from land based rigs? I know Exxon did some pretty long land-based drilling to offshore resources on the Sakhalin-1 project. Has anyone done this kind of thing on the west coast of the US?

Jake, I heard you talking about the Rice Alliance OTC Startup event. I work for a large Oil and Gas company, and several of my friends and I want to start up a business addressing a very particular problem in production that we all see as fixable with the right technology. We are going to boot strap this ourselves, but I want to know if looking for investor money makes more business sense. Any direction that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. BTW the show has increase in awesomeness since you came onboard, keep it up!

I love this show, and listen to it every week at the gym. As a Project Manager, I’m curious how the new technologies that you keep talking about will effect managing these large CAPEX intensive Oil and Gas projects around the world. Also am looking forward to the new Oil and Gas Industry Leaders show, please tell Paige “You Go Girl”.
